Our Origins

E&O Trading Company was originally inspired by a legendary friendship between an English trader and an Indonesian spice merchant. Our flagship restaurant opened in the heart of San Franciscos Union Square district on August 12, 1997. In its first year of operations, this restaurant was named as one of the top 10 new restaurants of 1997 by the San Francisco Chronicles Michael Bauer and was featured in Gourmet Magazines March 1998 issue. Critics have tagged the E&O as the Trader Vics of the 90"s, recognizing the restaurants unique combination of scripted environment and innovative cuisine. Since then, E&O has grown on the merits of its unique menu, consistently great food, and inviting atmosphere.
